Berlin-based New Zealand soprano Polly Ott made her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2026, stepping in as the soprano soloist for four performances of a new Chamber Opera, SELEMO. She has appeared at the Berlin Philharmonie with the Kammersymphonie Berlin as Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief and portrayed the Boy in New York in the world premiere of The True Story of King Kong at Theater Magdeburg. Polly has performed key soubrette roles such as Despina (Così fan tutte), Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia), and Clarice (Il mondo della luna) with the Kammeroper München at the Cuvilliés-Theater and Beethovenfest Bonn under the baton of Thomas Guggeis and Sebastian Beckedorf. Further highlights include the Soprano Soloist in The Magic Flute and the Broomstick for New Zealand Opera, Elvira (L'italiana in Algeri) with conductor Jakob Lehmann and Pamina at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. One of her most treasured roles is Anne Frank in Grigori Frid's The Diary of Anne Frank, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Polly has established a broad concert repertoire, recently appearing in Handel's Messiah at Auckland Town Hall and in numerous performances at the Berlin Philharmonie, including Mozart's Mass in C minor (Soprano I), Exsultate, Jubilate, Coronation Mass, and Bach's Christmas Oratorio. She has collaborated regularly with the Sinfonisches Kammerorchester Berlin in performances of Bach's St John Passion, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Fauré's Requiem, Arvo Pärt's Passio, and Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri. Other highlights include Handel's Brockes Passion, Haydn's Die Schöpfung, and Hasse's Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Magdalena at the Fondazione Cini in Venice. She has also performed Mahler's Symphony No. 2 with the Philharmonie Südwestfalen under Nabil Shehata, Mendelssohn's Elijah at Greifswald Cathedral, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang with the Kammerorchester der Komischen Oper Berlin and in Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Steve Reich's Music for Mallets with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. In December 2026, she will make her debut at the Konzerthaus Berlin with Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

In 2024, Polly released her debut art song album, Mother Earth, with pianist Chelsey Padilla on Atoll Records, and appeared on a live CD recording as Elvira in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri on Pan Classics. She produced and performed in the award-winning music video Ophelia's Aria, which received Best Music Video awards at the New York International Film Awards and the Berlin Independent Film Awards. For her performance Polly was honoured with the Best Actress award at the International Music Video Awards.

Polly holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice with First Class Honours from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch (teacher Dame Malvina Major) and a Master of Arts in Opera from the Universität der Künste Berlin (Prof. Julie Kaufmann). She was an Emerging Artist with NZ Opera and finalist in the prestigious Lexus Song Quest. 

Beyond her solo career, Polly Ott is a passionate ensemble singer and educator. She was a member of the New Zealand Secondary Students' Choir and the New Zealand Youth Choir and continues to perform with leading ensembles including the Vocalconsort Berlin, Cantus Thuringia and the Komische Oper Chorsolisten. In 2025, she took on a new role as choir director of the Kammerchor Neukölln. Polly has given masterclasses at the University of Canterbury, for the Specialist Music Programme at Burnside High School and teaches in Berlin.

2024 veröffentlichte Polly gemeinsam mit der Pianistin Chelsey Padilla ihr Debüt-Liedalbum, Mother Earth bei Atoll Records und war als Elvira in einer Live-CD-Aufnahme von Rossinis L’italiana in Algeri bei Pan Classics zu hören.
