New Zealand Soprano, Polly Ott, holds a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the University of Canterbury, where she studied with Dame Malvina Major in her hometown of Christchurch. Polly Ott was an Emerging Artist with New Zealand Opera before moving to Berlin, where she completed a Master of Arts in Opera with Distinction with Prof. Julie Kaufmann, Frank Hilbrich and Axel Bauni at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Masterclasses with Gerd Uecker, Grace Bumbry and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa complete her formal training.

Her engagements have already led the young soprano to perform at the New Zealand Opera, the Theater Magdeburg, the Südwestfalen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich and the Neuköllner Oper Berlin. Polly Ott has performed with the Kammeroper München, Eroica Berlin and has sung at festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Beethoven Festival Bonn.

Polly Ott’s repertoire ranges from Baroque to Modern. Her most notable roles include the Mozart characters PAMINA in Die Zauberflöte, BLONDE from Die Entführung aus dem Serail, DESPINA from Così fan tutte, MADAME HERZ from Der Schauspieldirektor and BARBARINA from Le nozze di Figaro, the Rossini characters of ELVIRA in L’italiana in Algeri and BERTA in Il barbiere di Siviglia, CLARICE in Il mondo della luna by Haydn, THE BOY FROM NEW YORK in the world premiere of The True Story of King Kong by Jeffery Ching, ANNE FRANK in the mono-opera The Diary of Anne Frank by Grigori Frid and FIRST FAIRY/ NIGHT from The Fairy Queen by Purcell.

Her concert repertoire includes works such as Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Weihnachtsoratorium Bach, Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate and Mass in C Minor, In furore iustissime irae by Vivaldi to Herzgewächse from Schönberg, Morton Feldman’s Three Voices and A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Mendelssohn.

Die neuseeländische Sopranistin, Polly Ott, machte ihren Bachelor of Music mit Auszeichnung an der University of Canterbury in Neuseeland bei Dame Malvina Major. 2009/2010 war die Sopranistin Mitglied des New Zealand Operas ‘Emerging Artist Programme’. 2015 absolvierte Polly Ott den Master of Arts in Oper mit Auszeichnung an der Universität der Künste Berlin, wo sie bei Prof. Julie Kaufmann, Frank Hilbrich und Axel Bauni studierte. Meisterkurse bei Gerd Uecker, Grace Bumbry und Dame Kiri Te Kanawa runden ihre bisherige Ausbildung ab.

Ihre Engagements führten die junge Sängerin bereits an die New Zealand Oper, das Theater Magdeburg, die Philharmonie Südwestfalen, die Berliner Philharmonie, die Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, das Cuvilliés Theater in München und die Neuköllner Oper Berlin. Polly Ott sang an der Kammeroper München und mit Eroica Berlin und sang bei Festivals wie auf dem Edinburgh Fringe Festival und auf dem Beethovenfest Bonn.

Ihr auf der Bühne gesungenes Repertoire reicht vom Barock bis zur Moderne. Ihr Konzert Repertoire umfasst u.a. Die Schöpfung (Haydn), Mahlers 2. Sinfonie, Weihnachtsoratorium (Bach), Exultate Jubilate und Große Messe in c-Moll (Mozart) sowie In furore iustissime irae (Vivaldi), Herzgewächse (Schönberg), Three Voice’s (Feldman) und Ein Sommernachtstraum (Mendelssohn).
